Great Value - See All the Best in one day.

This is your choice for an all-in-one Glacier & Wildlife Tour with added views from the Chugach Mountains high above Anchorage. Discover how close Alaska’s biggest city is to nature’s beautiful wilderness.
Sightsee down the world renown scenery of the Turnagain Arm along the Seward Highway, one of our nation's Scenic Byways into Portage Valley and the Chugach National Forest on this fully narrated tour. Travel beneath hanging glaciers before arriving at Portage Lake where you board the one-hour Portage Glacier Cruise right up to the face of the glacier. Enjoy lunch at a rustic Alaskan lodge where you can purchase a variety of delicious home-made soups, sandwiches and salads. Continue on to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. Amidst 360 degree mountain terrain see and learn about our native animals. It’s a joy to watch the different species of Alaskan animals such as brown bear, black bear, moose, caribou, wolves, musk ox, lynx, and wood bison in this natural setting. FAQ’S
WALKING:
The tour does not require much walking. The van is always available.

At the Portage Glacier Cruise there is about a block of walking to the boat on flat terrain.

At the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, we are able to pull up to the enclosures so that most of the animals will be visible from the large windows in our vans. In the case of mobility issues, there may be times when you might like to get out for closer viewing. There is about about 200 yards of walking on a flat walkway to see the bears. At other stops walking, is in and out of the van, mostly on flat ground.

At the scenic viewpoint over the city, there is some gentle uphill walking. There is an alternative viewpoint for those who have limited mobility. If you choose not to get out of the van, the views are still spectacular.
WEATHER and CLOTHING:
Summer in South Central Alaska ranges from the mid 50’s to the mid 70’s F. We always prepare for rain and wind. Even though it may be nice in Anchorage, it is not uncommon for the Portage area to be colder and cloudier. When you are close to the glacial ice on the Portage Glacier Cruise, it will be colder, even on a sunny day. There is plenty of room in our vans to bring an extra jacket, hat and, depending on your tolerance levels, gloves for the cruise. It’s always advisable to wear sunglasses and bring sunscreen and insect repellent.
MOBILITY ISSUES:
We understand your concerns and have had guests with mobility issues on tour with us successfully. We seat them in the best place for their abilities, either in the front or near the door where the step in is not too high.
