Sightsee down the world renown scenery of the Turnagain Arm along the Seward Highway, one of our nation's Scenic Byways into Portage Valley and the Chugach National Forest on this fully narrated tour. Travel beneath hanging glaciers before arriving at Portage Lake where you board the one-hour Portage Glacier Cruise right up to the face of the glacier. Enjoy lunch at a rustic Alaskan lodge where you can purchase a variety of delicious home-made soups, sandwiches and salads. Continue on to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. Amidst 360 degree mountain terrain see and learn about our native animals. It’s a joy to watch the different species of Alaskan animals such as brown bear, black bear, moose, caribou, wolves, musk ox, lynx, and wood bison in this natural setting. On the way back to your hotel, enjoy a side trip to 2300 feet above Anchorage into the Chugach Mountains for spectacular panoramic views. Plenty of photo opportunities on this tour.

GLACIER EXPERIENCE

Unique once-in-a-lifetime walk on the 10,000 year old ice. An authentic adventure.
Off the beaten path. On this guided day tour walk directly onto the Matanuska Glacier. You experience and learn about glacial features such as seracs, moulons and crevasses and will be surprised at how many different types of ice there are! Crampons, helmet, and trekking pole are provided. Wear long pants and hiking boots or sturdy shoes without big heels or tennis shoes will do. Bring along a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. It can be bright out there as the ice reflects the sun. Most important, don't forget your camera! This is an unparalleled, authentic activity. Drive time is two hours each way. The lunch stop is at a rustic Alaskan lodge where you can purchase a delicious variety of soups, sandwiches and salads.

HATCHER PASS PATROL

After you've seen and done the rest.
First visit the Iditarod Headquarters in Wasilla to enjoy an informative movie and check out the race museum. Optional cart ride pulled by actual Iditarod dogs.
After lunch available for purchase at a sandwich shop popular with the locals,
embark upon the adventurous, scenic drive up Hatcher Pass. At elev. 3550', tour the Independence Gold Mine for a feel of how pioneering men and women lived and worked in a severe climate with no modern amenities. Return is through historic Palmer.

Independence Mine is open to visitors approximately June 20 - September 7, 2015 due to accessibility to the mine because of the snow conditions.

CITY CIRCLE

All about Anchorage.
This tour includes Ship Creek, where the city began, Earthquake Park the site commemorating the devastation of the 1964 Good Friday Earthquake, Lake Hood/Spenard float plane base, Air Crossroads of the World. We then take a drive to Potter Marsh where you have some time to walk and enjoy this wild bird refuge. The tour ends with a drive up into the mountain neighborhoods ending with a run through the University-Medical District.This tour is fully narrated by long time Alaskan residents, full of anecdotes of what it’s like to live in the far North.
